The Homeless Ministry
The Homeless Ministry is a ministry of Homestead Park United Methodist Church’s Outreach Power Team. Sharing God’s love with the homeless is our group’s passion. We seek to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the men and women living on the streets and under the bridges in the City of Pittsburgh, Pa. Volunteers from HPUMC and several community churches weekly prepare lunch bags that consist of a meat sandwich, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fresh fruit, snacks, pastries, devotional material, and a bottle of water. These lunch bags are distributed on Sunday mornings by a team of volunteers that go into the city and look for the homeless. Currently, the ministry is providing 50 lunch bags and increasing the nutritional value of sandwiches. Donations of coats, blankets, hats, gloves and socks are distributed during the winter months as they are donated to the ministry. Donated personal hygiene items such as Kleenex, lotions, hand sanitizers, are also included in the bags. We appreciate all donations made to the Homeless Ministry. If you are interested in joining our ministry team please leave a message at the church office (412) 462-9030 for Jim Mouring, Chairman.
